WD2000: VBA: CharacterWidth Property Returns 9999999

SYMPTOMS

When you use the CharacterWidth property in its function form to return the width of a character or characters in a Visual Basic for Applications procedure, the value returned is 9999999.


CAUSE

You have installed the Japanese or Korean Input Method Editor (IME), and your macro has set the character width using the wdWidthFullWidth constant of the CharacterWidth property.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
