OFF2000: Invalid Page Fault in FM20.DLL When Showing UserForm

SYMPTOMS

When you show a UserForm, you may receive the following error message:

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

When you click Details, you receive the following error message:

'program' caused an invalid page fault in module FM20.DLL at 015f:60013e12.

Where program is the Microsoft Office program you are currently using.

When you click Close, the program shuts down but an instance of the program is left running in memory.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:

You programmatically set the Autosize property to True for a UserForm control from the Control Toolbox.

-or-
You programmatically set the Autosize property to True for a bitmap image that you are loading onto the UserForm using the LoadPicture method.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
