SYMPTOMSYou implement the SelectionChange event in your solution expecting that the event will fire only when the user switches to a different item in a folder, but the event also fires when the user clicks a different folder. CAUSEWhen you select a folder that contains items, Outlook automatically selects the first item in the folder, so the event fires. If the folder does not contains items the SelectionChange event will not fire. MORE INFORMATION
The Microsoft Outlook Visual Basic Reference (Vbaoutl.chm) is unclear on the actual behavior, and states that the event does not fire when switching folders. However, this is only true if the folder does not contain items. [The SelectionChange event] occurs when the selection of the current view changes. Other selection changes (such as the selected folder) do not cause this event to occur...
