If you bring up the Windows NT 4.0 Task Manager when multiple documents are open in Word 2000, the Applications tab lists each open document. However, the Processes tab lists only one instance of the Winword.exe process.
If you click Cancel, the single document will be closed. If you click End Task, Word and any open documents will be closed, and you will not be prompted to save the documents. CAUSEThe Single Document Interface (SDI) allows each document to occupy its own window. Windows NT reports each SDI window as a separate application, although there is only one Winword.exe active. In Windows 98, this same feature displays the Close Program with only one instance of Microsoft Word, no matter how many documents are open. Additional query words:
