SYMPTOMSWhen you insert a cross-reference to the paragraph number of an item formatted with a multilevel numbering style, the cross-reference does not include the ending punctuation. For example, if you have text formatted like this
the cross-reference you create to one of these items looks similar to this:

This is normal behavior in Word. The punctuation is retained for simple numbering formats, but the ending punctuation is removed from multilevel numbering formats.
