WD2000: Cannot Paste "In line with text" Using Paste Special As Picture or Document Object

ID: Q209802

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you paste text into a Word document using Paste Special (Edit menu) as a Picture or a Microsoft Word Document Object, the text is pasted with the Top and bottom wrapping style.

NOTE: In Word 97 for Windows, when you paste as a Picture or Word Document Object, you can turn off the Float over text option and paste the picture or object in line with your text.

CAUSE

The removal of the Float over text check box from the Paste Special dialog box (on the Edit menu, click Paste Special) is by design in Word 2000.

WORKAROUND

After you have pasted as a Picture or a Microsoft Word Document Object, change the wrapping style to In line with text using the following steps:

  1. Select the object you pasted.

  2. On the Format menu, click Object.

  3. On the Layout tab, under Wrapping style, select In line with text.

NOTE: If you click the Advanced button before you click In line with text, Top and bottom (on the Text Wrapping tab) is automatically selected when you paste your object.

  4. Click OK.
