WD2000: Indented Bulleted/Numbered List Lost When Converted to Table

ID: Q210081

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word 2000

SYMPTOMS

If you change an indented bulleted or numbered list to a table, the table is indented and the list may be lost.

CAUSE

When you convert an indented bulleted or numbered list to a table, the indentation of the list is applied to the table. In addition, the indentation of the list is also applied inside the table cells. This results in the bulleted or numbered list being shifted to the right off the page.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, remove the indentation from the table. To do this, use the following steps:

  1. With the mouse, click inside the table.

NOTE: You may not be able to see the insertion point.

  2. On the Table menu, point to Select and then click Table.

  3. On the Table menu, click Table Properties.

  4. On the Table tab, change the Indent from left box to 0" and then click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
