WD2000: ALT+SHIFT Shortcut Applies Heading Style to All Paragraphs in Table Row

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to apply a heading style to the text in a table cell by using a shortcut key, Microsoft Word applies the change to every other paragraph in the same table cell or in the same row of the table.

For example, if you do the following

1. Type a paragraph in a cell.



2. Press ALT+SHIFT+LEFT ARROW to apply the Heading 1 style, and then press ENTER.



3. Type a new paragraph in the cell.



4. Press ALT+SHIFT+RIGHT ARROW to apply the Heading 2 style to the second paragraph.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, select the text to which you want to apply the heading style and then use either of the following methods:

• On the Formatting toolbar, click the heading style that you want in the Style list.
  
  -or-



• On the Format menu, click Style. In the List box, click All styles. In the Styles list, click the style that you want to apply , and then click Apply.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
