The format (such as font or font size) of automatic page numbers may be modified for a specific document and/or used as the default for all new documents.

To modify the format of automatic page numbers, follow these steps:
- On the Format menu, click Style.
- In the List box, click All styles.
- In the Styles box, select Page Number, and then click Modify.
- Click Format, and then on the shortcut menu, click Font.
- Click the Font tab, and then select the desired font, style, size, and effect (if any).
- Click OK.
NOTE: If the formatting for the Page Number style is to be used as the default for newly created documents, click to select the Add to template check box in the lower-left corner of the Modify Style dialog box.
- Click OK, and then click Close in the Style dialog box.
