SYMPTOMSWhen you work in a master document and you lose your network connection, Microsoft Word may not open or expand any subdocuments and may display the following error message: If you click No, the Expand Subdocuments command stops running. If you click Yes, Word expands the remaining subdocuments; however, if any of the remaining subdocuments is also saved on a network drive, Word displays the same error message again for that document. CAUSEA master document in Microsoft Word cannot open (expand) a subdocument that is saved on a network drive when the network connection has been lost. WORKAROUND
To prevent this error message after losing your network connection, end
the Expand Subdocuments command to prevent expanding the remaining
