WD2000: Company Name Not Added to Header with Letter Wizard

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Letter Wizard in Microsoft Word 2000, the preview for the Elegant Page Design shows a company name in the header of the page. When you run the wizard, you cannot change the company name, and the company name is not added to the header of your letter when you finish running the wizard.

NOTE: The preview is based on the Gallery Example AutoText entry.


WORKAROUND

After you finish running the wizard, use the following steps to add your company name header to your letter:

  1. Display the first page of your letter and on the View menu, click Header and Footer.


  2. Type the information you want to appear at the top of the first page of your letter, and then select the text.


  3. On the Format menu, click Font, and then in the Font dialog box, click the Font tab.


  4. Select the font formatting options you want. For example, in the Size box, type or select a point size, and then click OK.


  5. On the Format menu, click Paragraph, and then in the Paragraph dialog box, click the Indents and Spacing tab.


  6. Select the paragraph formatting options you want. For example, in the Alignment box, select Centered, and then click OK.



STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

To run the Letter Wizard, do one of the following:

  • On the File menu, click New. On the Letters & Faxes tab, click to select Letter Wizard and then click OK.

  • On the Tools menu, click Letter Wizard.
