WD2000: AutoSummarize Doesn't Find Some Text to Summarize

SYMPTOMS

Word does not summarize all the text in your document, or you receive one of the following error messages:

Word cannot find any text to summarize.
-or-
Word only summarizes text marked as English. Text marked as non-English or No Proofing was skipped. To mark all text as English, select all text, and click Set Language (Tools menu, Language submenu).


CAUSE

The AutoSummarize feature does not summarize text if the text is:

  • Formatted in a language other than English.


  • Formatted as "Do not check spelling or grammar".


  • Inside a text box.


  • Inside a frame.


  • Inside a table.
