WD2000: Copying Toolbar Does Not Copy Associated Macros

SYMPTOMS

If you click a button on a toolbar that has been copied from another template, the button does nothing and the following message may appear:

The macro cannot be found or has been disabled because of your Macro security settings.

CAUSE

When you copy a toolbar from another template using the Organizer, Word does not copy the macros associated with the toolbar buttons. When you click a button in the new template, Word looks for the macro that goes with the button and cannot find it.

WORKAROUND

Use the Organizer to copy the original macro to the new template. To do this, follow these steps:

1. On the Tools menu, click Templates and Add-ins.



2. Click Organizer.



3. Click the Macro Project Items tab.



4. To copy the macro to or from a different template or file, click Close File to close the active document and its attached template or to close the Normal template. Then click Open File, and open the template or file you want.



5. Click the macro you want to copy, and then click Copy. To select a range of items, hold down SHIFT and click the first and last items. To select nonadjacent items, hold down CTRL as you click each item.



6. Click Close.
