When you save a Word document that contains Visual Basic for Applications code in another document format, such as Rich-Text Format (RTF), the Visual Basic for Applications code is lost.
CAUSENone of the converters that ship with Word supports the retention of Visual Basic for Applications code. If you need to save a document that contains code (macros) in a format other than Word 97 or Word 2000, make sure you have a backup copy of the document before you convert it. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
