WD2000: Compile, Syntax Errors Running Converted Macro

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to run a WordBasic macro that was converted to a Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications macro, a compile error or a syntax error may occur.


CAUSE

Word does not correctly convert WordBasic commands that are more than 1,024 characters long.

To work around this problem, do one of the following.

Method 1: Open the WordBasic Macro in the Previous Version of Word

Open the WordBasic macro in the previous version of Word, and modify the WordBasic macro so that each command is fewer than 1,024 characters.

Method 2: Edit the Incorrectly Converted Macro

Edit the incorrectly converted macro in the Microsoft Visual Basic Editor.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
