SYMPTOMS
When you delete a file, it is not automatically removed from the most recently used (MRU) file list. CAUSEMicrosoft Word maintains a list of up to nine of the most recently used (MRU) files at the bottom of the File menu. This list is maintained independently of the file list that appears when you click the File menu and then click Open. RESOLUTIONTo remove the deleted file name from the MRU list, you must either open additional files so that the newly opened files replace the old names, or reset the MRU list by clearing all the files.
