WD2000: ( CG5): Inline Objects Increase in Size When Inserted into Clip Gallery 5.0

ID: Q218528

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word 2000
  • Microsoft Clip Gallery 5.0 for Windows

SYMPTOMS

When you copy and paste or drag an inline with text (same layer as text) object from a document into Microsoft Clip Gallery 5.0, the object is stored as a Windows metafile (WMF) image and the size increases to approximately four times the original size.

NOTE: Inline objects include pictures, charts, equations, ActiveX controls, and other items that can be inserted into a document by clicking Object on the Insert menu.

CAUSE

Microsoft Clip Gallery 5.0 does not understand the size or object type of an inline with text object.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, change the text wrapping style on the object to a style other than In line with text before you create a clip in Clip Gallery. To change the text wrapping style, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click the object and click Format Object.

NOTE: The object type affects this menu item. For example, a picture displays Format Picture, and an ActiveX control displays Format Control.

  2. In the Format Object dialog box, click the Layout tab.

  3. Set the Wrapping style to Square and click OK.

The object can now be placed as a clip into Microsoft Clip Gallery 5.0 and retain its object type and dimensions.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
