SUMMARY
The following article discusses the types of file formats and extensions that can be used as an address list in Microsoft Direct Mail Manager and the types of file formats in which a modified address list can be saved.
MORE INFORMATION
NOTE: The extensions listed with each of the file formats below are the standard extensions that Direct Mail Manager expects for that format. If your address list was saved with a different extension than is listed for each of these file formats, Direct Mail Manager may be unable to use the address list.
Microsoft Direct Mail Manager can use the following files types for an address list:
- Microsoft Access database (.mdb, .mdw, .mda)
- dBASE III or dBASE IV file (.dbf)
- Microsoft Excel Worksheet (.xls)
- Microsoft Word Document (.doc)
- Paradox 5.x Database (.db, .dbf)
- delimited Text File (.txt, .csv, .tab, .asc)
- Microsoft Outlook Contacts file
- Many database formats by means of Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) interface
After the address list is verified, you can save the updated address list in one of the following formats:
- Microsoft Access database (.mdb, .mdw, .mda)
- dBASE III or dBASE IV (.dbf)
- Microsoft Excel worksheet (.xls)
- delimited Text File (.txt, .csv, .tab, .asc) (save to new file only)
- Microsoft Outlook Contacts file (update existing file only)
