WD2000: Some Table Borders Disappear After Pasting Word Document Object

ID: Q220234

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you paste a table as a Microsoft Word Document Object, some of the table borders may not be visible.

NOTE: The number and location of borders that disappear vary, based on zoom percentage and video resolution.

CAUSE

When the table is pasted as a Microsoft Word Document Object, it may be scaled to the area into which it is being pasted. Thinner borders (for example, 1/2 pt borders) may disappear or not be visible.

WORKAROUND

To make the table borders visible, use either of the following methods:

Method 1: Increase the Zoom Percentage

  1. On the View menu, click Zoom.

  2. In the Zoom dialog box, click to select a percentage of zoom that is greater than your current zoom setting and then click OK.

For example, select 100% or 150%.

NOTE: The right border of the table still may not be visible on your screen, but it will appear when the file is printed.

Method 2: Open and Close the Document Object

  1. Double-click the document object to open it.

  2. On the File menu, click Close and Return to <Filename>, where <Filename> is the name of your Word document.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
