WD2000: Thesaurus Doesn't Suggest a Replacement When a Synonym Isn't Found

SYMPTOMS

When you use the thesaurus in Word to find a replacement word, the thesaurus does not suggest a replacement when a synonym is not found.

NOTE: To use the thesaurus, do one of the following:

  • On the Tools menu, point to Language and then click Thesaurus.

    -or

  • Press SHIFT+F7.


CAUSE

This functionality is by design. The U.S. proofing tools that ship with Microsoft Word 2000 contain changes that are different from the U.S. proofing tools that shipped with earlier versions of Microsoft Word.

NOTE: These changes were initially shipped as part of Microsoft Word 97 for Windows, Service Release 2.
