SYMPTOMS
In Word 2000, if you have Detect language automatically selected and French enabled in Microsoft Office Language Settings and you type one sentence in French followed by another sentence in English, the punctuation formatting (or other AutoFormatting) may not be applied until after the second sentence is completed rather than the first. WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, if AutoFormat does not apply the correct formatting for the language, manually remove any incorrect spacing (or other AutoFormatting) and then apply the formatting you want to the paragraph or text. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. Additional query words: autoformat autodetect french LAD punctuation
