ID: Q220453

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you save a file containing a field code whose result is

Error! Objects cannot be created from editing field codes.
the following error message may appear:
There is not enough memory or disk space to display or print the picture.

CAUSE

The "Error! Objects cannot be created from editing field codes" error message indicates that you manually modified or created a field for an object. For example, you manually inserted an embed field similar to the following:

{EMBED midifile}
Or you modified an embed field, thereby generating this field result.

When you save the file as a Web page, the invalid field cannot be converted into HTML, and you receive the "not enough memory" error message.

NOTE: To view the EMBED field in your Word document, press ALT+F9.

RESOLUTION

Remove the invalid field and insert a new field by clicking Object on the Insert menu and selecting the appropriate object type.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
