ID: Q220533

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you open your document outside of Word--for example, you double-click a document in a folder--and the document contains an AutoOpen macro or contains Visual Basic for Applications commands in the Document_Open event of the document, the macro fails to run as expected.

CAUSE

Your document may be a frames page.

To determine whether your document is a frames page, on the Format menu, point to Frames.

If more than the following default menu items are available, your document is a frames page.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, open the frames document from within Word. The AutoOpen macro or Document_Open event works as expected opening the document from within Word.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
