WD2000: Document_Close Event and AutoClose Macro Fail When Closing Document

SYMPTOMS

Your Document_Close event or AutoClose procedure or both fail to run when you close a document.

CAUSE

The document you are closing was created by running another "instance" of Word.

NOTE: In Word 2000, running another instance of Word just creates a new document in the existing instance of Word.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, instead of trying to run another instance of Word, create a new document from within the already existing instance of Word.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
