WD2000: Err Msg: "A file error has occurred"

ERROR MESSAGE

When you try to save a Word document, the following error message appears:

A file error has occurred. Try one or more of the following:

* Check the disk drive to make sure the disk is properly inserted.
* Check the disk or the disk drive to make sure there is not a hardware problem.
* Check the network connections.

CAUSE

You are trying to save your document to a removable disk drive, and the removable media is not present.

You are trying to save your document to a disk drive that is experiencing a hardware failure.

You are trying to save your document to a network connection that no longer is available.

You are trying to save a file as a Web page and you have uninstalled your Web browser.


WHAT TO TRY

You are trying to save your document to a removable disk drive...

You are trying to save your document to a removable disk drive, and the removable media is not present for saving. For example, your floppy disk drive does not contain a floppy disk.
  • Make sure the removable media is available for saving by reinserting the media.

    NOTE: While you are saving a file to a floppy disk, you must not remove the floppy disk from the disk drive until the operation is completely finished (the light on the floppy disk drive turns off and stays turned off).


  • Make sure the removable media is not write-protected.
