WD2000: Table Borders Lost Saving As Word 6.0/95

ID: Q224618

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you save your Word 2000 document containing a bordered table as Word 6.0/95, the table borders may be lost.

NOTE: This problem does not occur with any of the following border styles:

  • Solid Line
  • Dotted
  • Wide Dash
  • Double Line
The following border styles change to the Solid Line border style:
  • Dash Dot
  • Dash Dot Dot

WORKAROUND

Do not save your Word 2000 document as Word 6.0/95. Instead, open the Word 2000 document in Word for Windows 95 or Word 6.0 for Windows using the Word 97-2000 Import Converter.

When you open a Word 2000 document using the Word 97-2000 converter, table borders may change to a border style that is supported in Word 6.0/95, depending on which table border is used. The following are a few examples of how table borders are retained:

  • A Single Line border is retained as a Single Line border.
  • A Dash Dot Dot border is retained as a dashed border.
  • A Triple Line border is retained as a Double Line border.
