The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMS
When you print to an envelope, Word may not print in the correct orientation, print entirely on the envelope, or print on the correct side of the envelope. Also, it may print upside down (180-degree rotation).
This problem is most likely to occur with ink jet printers such as the Hewlett-Packard DeskJet, the Epson Stylus, or the Canon BubbleJet.
These problems may be experienced when you use the envelope feature (on the Tools menu, click Envelopes and Labels), or when you use the Envelope Wizard (on the File menu, click New; on the Letters & Faxes tab, click Envelope Wizard).
CAUSE
The feed method in Microsoft Word is incorrectly set for your printer.
WORKAROUND
To change the feed method, use the following steps:
- On the Tools menu, click Envelopes and Labels.
- On the Envelopes tab, click Options.
- On the Printing Options tab, change the Feed method to the correct orientation and position, based on the information included with your printer, and then click OK.
For additional information about this problem with the Hewlett Packard DeskJet 694C printer, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

NOTE: Most printers pictorially indicate how an envelope is to be inserted on the printer. Word should be set to match this pictorial illustration. If your printer does not pictorially indicate how to insert an envelope, refer to the user's manual included with your printer.
