When you type a Web address (URL) into the Address box of the Web toolbar in Word and then press ENTER, the Web page does not open in Word. Instead, the Web page opens in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5. CAUSEThis functionality is by design of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5. WORKAROUNDTo edit the Web page in Word, use one of the following methods appropriate for your situation. Method 1: Use Open on the File MenuTo open the Web page directly in Word, use the following steps:
Method 2: Use "Edit with Microsoft Word for Windows"After the Web page has loaded in Internet Explorer 5, click Edit with Microsoft Word for Windows on the File menu.NOTE: If Edit with Microsoft Word for Windows does not appear on the File menu in Internet Explorer 5, or you do not have Internet Explorer 5, use Method 1 of this article.
