WD2000: Windows Installer Runs When Word Is Started

SYMPTOMS

When you start Word 2000, the Microsoft Windows Installer sometimes runs, even though Word and all of its associated components have been installed.

The following error message may appear:

Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office 2000 Premium edition.

CAUSE

An earlier version of Microsoft Word is installed on the same computer as Word 2000. The behavior described in the "Symptoms" section of this article occurs by design when you run an earlier version of Word and then start Word 2000 on the same computer. Word 2000 must reinstall, or re-register, itself.
