WD2000: Text from Converted Table Jumps to Unexpected Location After Removing Frame

SYMPTOMS

When you convert to text a table that has text wrapping applied to it and then remove the frame, the text appears in an unexpected place.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because text inside a frame is anchored to a specific paragraph. When you remove the frame from a paragraph, the text is repositioned at either the beginning or the end of a paragraph.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, use one of the following methods:

Method 1: Reposition the Anchor

1. On the Tools menu, click Options.



2. On the View tab, select the All check box. The All check box is located in the Formatting marks section of the View tab.



3. Click OK.



4. Select the frame around the text of the converted table.

5. In the left margin of your document, an anchor should be visible. Click and drag the anchor to the paragraph where you want the "unframed" text to appear. For example, move the frame anchor to a blank paragraph mark.



6. After moving the frame anchor, and with the frame still selected, click Frame on the Format menu, and then click Remove Frame.

Method 2: Reposition the Text

1. Select the text you want to move.



2. On the Edit menu, click Cut.



3. Move the insertion point where you want the text to appear.



4. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
