WD2000: Vertical Alignment Causes Incorrect Text Wrapping Within Text

SYMPTOMS

After you change the vertical alignment of your page and move a picture to the top of your page, text may wrap incorrectly around a blank area within your text.

NOTE: This problem can also occur with AutoShapes.


WORKAROUND

To prevent this problem, do one of the following:

  • Change the wrapping style of your picture to either In front of text or Behind text. To do this, follow these steps:


    1. Click to select your picture.


    2. On the Format menu, click Picture.


    3. On the Layout tab, click to select either In front of text or Behind text and click OK.


    -or-

  • Change the vertical alignment of your page. To do this, follow these steps:


    1. On the File menu, click Page Setup.

      NOTE: If Page Setup is not available, make sure your picture is not selected.


    2. On the Layout tab, change the Vertical alignment box to Top.


    3. Click OK to close the Page Setup dialog box.


    NOTE: To prevent the picture from affecting the wrapping of your text, you may need to do one of the following:
    • Resize your picture.


    • Move the text down away from the picture by placing the insertion point at the start of the text and pressing ENTER.


    • Move your picture into the header of the page.



STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
