SYMPTOMSIf you click a hyperlink to a Microsoft Word document from Internet Explorer, the document is opened in Microsoft Word with the name "Document in Microsoft Internet Explorer". Any changes made to the file are saved in the new document "Document in Microsoft Internet Explorer" and not in the original linked file. WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, click Save As on the File menu, and save the file using the original file name. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATIONThe new document does not have a .doc extension and does not appear in the Open dialog box (on the File menu) unless you choose to display all files.
