SYMPTOMS
If you open a document that contains a table that was numbered with the "Number Across Rows" feature in either Microsoft Word 6.0 for Windows or Microsoft Word for Windows 95, and you save the file as Word 6.0/95 in Microsoft Word 2000, when you close and reopen the document, the numbering in the table changes to "Number Down Columns". Your table may now be numbered like the following.
RESOLUTION
Microsoft Word 2000 does not have the "Number Down Columns" or "Number Across Rows" option as do Microsoft Word 6.0 for Windows and Microsoft Word for Windows 95. Instead, Word 2000 numbers each table cell once by default and does not repeat a number in any table cell.
