WD2000: Invalid Page Fault When You Click ActiveX Control in Document Protected for Comments

SYMPTOMS

When you click (or double-click) an ActiveX control (for example, a text box control) in a Word document that is protected for comments, Word may crash, and an error message similar to the following may appear:

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
When you click Details, the following message appears:
WINWORD caused an invalid page fault in VBE6.DLL at 0167:6520adce.
NOTE: The actual memory address may vary.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
