Word Uses DIALOG.FON Font File for Dialog Box Text

SUMMARY

By default, Word for Windows uses the font file DIALOG.FON to generate the characters in both internal and user-defined dialog boxes. This file is shipped with Word 6.0, and is the only font supported by Microsoft for use in Word dialog boxes.

The font file DIALOG.FON was specifically designed to display attractively in Word dialog boxes at a variety of screen resolutions. The DIALOG.FON font provides an rich extended character set. Word dialog boxes are designed specifically to work with DIALOG.FON. By default, this font is located in the Word program directory.

If the DIALOG.FON font is deleted or becomes otherwise unavailable, Word attempts to substitute the MS Sans Serif screen font (SSERIFE.FON).

Microsoft does not support the use of third-party fonts in Word for Windows dialog boxes.
