SYMPTOMSThe Paste Link option is not available when you choose Paste Special from the Edit menu after you copy a Microsoft Access database table to the Clipboard. STATUSThe Paste Link option is available when using Word version 6.0a. A Paste Link will still not update correctly. This is due to a problem in Access. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available. WORKAROUND
To create a link to a Microsoft Access table in your Word document,
use the Database command on the Insert menu. In the Insert Data dialog
box, be sure to check the Insert Data As A Field check box. This will
allow you to update your data by pressing F9.
MORE INFORMATIONAnother way to create a link to a Microsoft Access table is to manually insert a DDE field into your document. For example: {DDE MSAccess "database.mdb;Table tablename" All \* mergeformat \t}To create this field manually, press CTRL+F9 to create the field brackets, type in the above field code, and press F9 to update the field and establish the link. The database must be open to successfully create and update the link.
