SYMPTOMSPrinting a document that contains a table that has all rows but the first shaded, to a Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet 550C printer, will cause Word for MS-DOS to hang (stop responding). WORKAROUNDThis problem occurs only if the first row of a table is not shaded when all other rows are. If you want to create such a table and not have Word hang when you print it, format the first row of your table for 1% shade. This allows Word to see all rows of the table as shaded, but since the percent of shading is so light, no shading will be printed. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word version 6.0 for MS-DOS. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
