SUMMARY
Microsoft Word for Windows does not include the Visual Basic programming
system, Applications Edition. Instead, Microsoft has made enhancements to
WordBasic and added support for OLE Automation as a server only.

Word 6.0
Word 6.0 for Windows provides other applications with an object called "Basic." Using this object, other applications that support OLE Automation (such as Visual Basic 3.0) can send WordBasic instructions to Word for Windows. Word, however, cannot use OLE Automation to access other applications.
