MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Configure for Exporting

AutoCAD allows you to configure both a plotting and printing device. If you have not done so, you will need to configure for a Raster File export as follows:
  1. From the AutoCAD Configuration menu, choose option 5 (Configure Plotting Device.)

  2. Choose option 1 to add a plotter.

  3. Choose option 21 in the MS-DOS version and option 13 in the Windows version (Raster File Export).

  4. Choose option 5 (640 x 480 VGA resolution).

  5. Choose option 4 (BMP).

  6. Choose 1 (Monochrome).

  7. You are then prompted for the background color from 0 to 255. You should select a background color to match your current workspace color.

  8. Choose N to accept current configuration.

  9. You are then prompted for a description of the plotting device. Enter something like BMP Plotter.

  10. Choose option 0 to exit the configuration.

  11. Again, choose option 0 to return to the current drawing.

Steps for Exporting

To export your current drawing:
  1. From the File menu, choose Plot (in the MS-DOS version); or (in the Windows version) choose the printer icon.

  2. If the device name is not the same as your description for the BMP Plotter, choose the device selection button, and select the proper description for your BMP plotting device.

  3. The default filename is the name of your drawing with the extension .BMP. If you would like a different filename, choose the Filename button and enter a different filename. If you would also like to store the file in a different directory than the current one, change the directory location.

  4. To create the file, choose the Plot button.

Your AutoCAD image is now ready to be inserted into a Word for Windows document by using the Picture command on Word's Insert menu.
