ID: Q110374

 | The information in this article applies to:

Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 6.0, 6.0a
Microsoft Word for Windows NT, version 6.0
Microsoft Word for Windows 95, versions 7.0, 7.0a
Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, versions 6.0, 6.0.1
Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition

 SYMPTOMS
When the Mail Merge Helper dialog box is activated by a macro command, some
of the options are either unavailable or already activated using defaults
rather than offering you choices. The following commands behave differently
than expected:

The Create <document type> option doesn't allow you to select a new main
document. The macro automatically changes the active window to a mail
   merge main document.

The Restore To Normal Word document doesn't offer a confirmation
dialog box. The macro immediately removes all data file and header file
   information.

The Edit Data Source button opens the data source in View Source mode
rather than the Data Form dialog box. To open the file in the Data Form
dialog box, click the Data Form button on the Mail Merge toolbar.
