Setup Err Msg: "Object ID 502: CustomAction Object

• Microsoft Word for Windows, version 6.0

SYMPTOMS

The following error message may occur when you perform an administrator's installation (SETUP /a) of Word for Windows at a network workstation:

Setup Parse Error in Initialize Pass","Object ID 502: CustomAction Object: Bad Dialog procedure data value

CAUSE

The WORD_BB.DLL file on the server or shared directory is damaged or missing.

RESOLUTION

Rename or delete the existing WORD_BB.DLL file on the server or shared directory. Then use the following instructions to manually decompress a new copy of the file:

1. Copy the file WORD_BB.DL_ from Disk 1 to the server.



2. At the MS-DOS prompt, type the following:

   decomp word_bb.dl_ word_bb.dll




3. Rerun the administrator's installation of Word.
