SUMMARYThis article describes how and when Word for Windows creates RESCUE.DOC. MORE INFORMATION
When you start Word, the program reserves some system memory. During the
Word session, if you try to save a document and do not have enough memory
to complete the operation, Word displays an "out of memory" error message
and asks if you want to save the current document as RESCUE.DOC. If you
choose Yes, Word releases the reserved system memory and uses it to save
your document.
