Default Document Name Increments by Two After Using AWARD.WIZ

ID: Q114433

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 6.0, 6.0a

SYMPTOMS

After you create a document based on the Award Wizard (AWARD.WIZ), Word for Windows increments by two the temporary name it gives the next new document. For example, if you create Document1 using the Award Wizard, Word gives the next document you create the temporary name Document3 (that is, Word skips Document2).

CAUSE

The Award Wizard runs the StartWizard macro, which creates and then closes one new document. In other words, when you create a document based on the Award Wizard, Word creates one extra document, thereby using one of the default temporary names.
