ID: Q114689

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 6.0, 6.0a, 6.0c

SYMPTOMS

A chart created in Lotus 1-2-3 version 3.x for MS-DOS may appear cropped on the left side after you insert it into a Word 6.0 for Windows document.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem with the Word 6.0 and 6.0a for Windows computer graphics metafile (.CGM) graphics filter. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUND

Method 1:

You may be able to correct the problem by double-clicking the graphic to start the Word graphics editor. From the graphics editor, choose the margins button so all the pieces of the graphic are within the picture bounds, then close the editor. All of the graphic should now be visible.
Method 2:
If the graphics editor causes distortion to the graphic, try using other methods of getting the file into Word, such as saving the file in other file formats or using a third-party graphics conversion package.
