GP Fault Inserting Harvard Graphics Slide as Object

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 6.0, 6.0a
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, version 5.0
  • Microsoft Access for Windows, version 2.0


SYMPTOMS

When you insert a Harvard Graphics 2.0 object, you get a general protection (GP) fault in HGW2.EXE.

This problem also occurs when you use CorelDraw version 4.0 to insert a Harvard Graphics for Windows 2.0 object.

This problem does not happen in any program that does not support OLE 2.0, including the following:

Windows Write

Word 2.x for Windows

Microsoft Excel 4.0

Microsoft Access 1.1


WORKAROUND

To workaround this problem, copy and paste your Harvard Graphics images into your application.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Harvard Graphics version 2.0 for Windows. Software Publishing is researching this problem and Microsoft will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
