WordPerfect Navigation Keys Work Incorrectly in Word 6.0

ID: Q115169

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 6.0, 6.0a
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1

SYMPTOMS

In Word 6.0 and 6.0a for Windows, some WordPerfect shortcut key combinations work incorrectly when "Navigation Keys for WordPerfect Users" is turned on. For example:

  • In WordPerfect version 5.1, pressing HOME, HOME, UP ARROW (or HOME, HOME, DOWN ARROW) positions the insertion point at the top (or bottom) of the document. To move to the top (or bottom) of the document window in WordPerfect, you press HOME, UP ARROW (or HOME, DOWN ARROW).

  • In Word for Windows (with the "Navigation Keys for WordPerfect Users" option on), however, pressing HOME, HOME, UP ARROW (or HOME, HOME, DOWN ARROW) incorrectly moves the insertion point to the top (or bottom) of the document window.

WORKAROUND

To use standard Word key combinations to move the insertion point to the top or bottom of the document, disable the "Navigation Keys for WordPerfect Users" option. (To turn off this option, from the Tools menu, choose Options. Select the General tab, and clear the "Navigation Keys for WordPerfect Users" check box.)
