Blue Selection Outline Unavailable for Preset Grid

ID: Q116215

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 6.0, 6.0a

SYMPTOMS

When you try to format a table with a border and you choose Grid from the Presets box, the dialog box selection--that is, the Grid box--should contain a blue outline, indicating that it is selected. Instead, it displays a dotted gray border, giving the impression that the option is not available. (To locate this option, choose Borders And Shading from the Format menu, and select the Borders tab.)

This behavior does not occur when you use the presets for None or Box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word versions 6.0 and 6.0a for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
