SYMPTOMS
In Word 6.0, when you compare one version of a document to another document
that does not have an extension, Word does not mark any revisions in the
first document.
If the filename includes a period, Word 2.x marks the revisions but does not indicate whether the revisions were deleted or added. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word versions 2.x, 6.0, and 6.0a for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available. WORKAROUNDRename the file that does not have an extension so that it includes an extension; then run Compare Versions.
