"Command Failed" Running ToolsOptionsSpelling Macro

SYMPTOMS

The following WordBasic command


   ToolsOptionsSpelling .Type=<n> 
will produce the "Command Failed" Error when "n" = 2, 3, or 4.


CAUSE

By design, Word allows you to specify 1 of 5 types of predefined dictionaries. Word will generate a Command Failed error when the specified dictionary is not installed.

The 5 types are as follows:


     0     Normal
     1     Concise
     2     Complete
     3     Medical
     4     Legal 


RESOLUTION

If you are using Word's default dictionary, specify 0 (zero) for the type argument.

If you are using a supplemental dictionary, confirm that the Type corresponds to the type of dictionary you are using.
