WD: Symbol Character Pasted as Wrong Character in Find/Replace

SYMPTOMS

When you paste a symbol character into the Find or Replace dialog box, the symbol may appear as a different character from the one you copied. This behavior occurs when you paste symbols that were created by clicking Symbol on the Insert menu. If you preview the contents of the Clipboard or paste the symbol to another document, it is displayed correctly.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
